May Challenge: Calgary Captured

This month is all about Calgary Captured!

Last month we learned that Citizen Science is about making observations and identifying animals and plants. But, did you know there are other ways to do citizen science?! In fact, you can do it right from your computer at home! How? By using Calgary Captured!

Nicole, from the Miistakis Institute, tells us more about Calgary Captured and how you can get involved in the video below. Check it out!

How cool is that?!

Here are your challenges for the month of May:

  1. Use Calgary Captured! Start identifying here. Then, tell us about your favourite photo you saw by email (education@greencalgary.org), social media, or comment on this post!
  2. Create some window art for our feathered friends, an activity from Evergreen Canada here. By creating this window art, you are helping prevent our bird friends from flying into our windows during their Spring migrations!
  3. Tell us about a time you've seen wildlife in your own backyard or near by natural area - comment here, email us, or tell us on social media!

Check out our own Citizen Science Project on iNaturalist here! Feel free to submit your photos here anytime.

Once you've completed one of the challenges, you’ll be entered into the contest to win the BIG nature prize pack! Winners will be announced in June.

🎉Here is a sneak peak to the prize pack! 🎉
