The first week of June is always one of our favourites! Students from all over Calgary descend upon downtown excited to learn all they can at the Mayor's Environment Expo. We were privileged to offer a sampling of our YYC's Young Citizen Scientists programs to students from Grades K-6.
First up, Bumblebees! Our goal is to pique the students' interest in our native pollinators and encourage them to upload photos of the Bumblebees they see this summer to www.bumblebeewatch.org.
The next day we gave the students a taste of our Birds program. The skit always leaves them laughing - and learning at the same time!
Wishing these students well as they begin their journey as Citizen Scientists. Once they start looking they'll be amazed by the amazing variety of life that surrounds them every day. And as Citizen Scientists they can help work to protect it!
