Ladybugs, thistles, and bees, oh my!

We were thrilled to launch our YYC's Young Citizen Scientists program today with our pilot group at the Boys and Girls Club. We started the day with a CPAWS (Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society) Species at Risk workshop brought to us by Chelsey. Here are the student investigators, working to figure out why some of Alberta's species of wildlife are under threat.

Then, armed with their nature journals, the students went into the surrounding neighbourhoods on a Biodiversity Quest! It's amazing what you can notice when you start opening your eyes to the variety of life all around you.

Tomorrow we'll start our investigation of our beloved wild pollinators: Bumble Bees! Stay tuned as we learn more about bees, why they are under threat, and what we can do as Citizen Scientists to help.
